Looking for the complete Pitch Black card list? This page has all 120 cards from Pitch Black, the 17 July 2026 expansion headlined by Mega Darkrai ex, with card numbers, types and rarities in one table. Before the table, we break down how the set is numbered, how many cards sit in each rarity, which Pitch Black cards are the big chases and how to plan your checklist.

Pitch Black card list guide: the Elite Trainer Box showing Mega Darkrai ex
Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution—Pitch Black Elite Trainer Box

The Pitch Black checklist has two parts: an 84-card main set numbered 001 to 084, and 36 secret rares numbered 085 to 120 that go beyond the printed set total. If a card’s number is higher than 84, it is a secret rare. For background on the set itself, its Japanese source Abyss Eye and its six Mega Pokémon ex, read our Pokémon Pitch Black set guide.

How the Pitch Black card list is numbered

The main set runs through the Pokémon by type, then the Trainers, then the Special Energy. Knowing the blocks makes it much faster to find a card in a binder or to spot gaps in your Pitch Black cards.

  • 001–006 Grass: Tropius to Sinistcha, including Lurantis ex (#004)
  • 007–012 Fire: Heatran to Armarouge, including Mega Delphox ex (#008)
  • 013–022 Water: Goldeen to Palafin, including Wailord ex (#016)
  • 023–028 Lightning: Electrike to Miraidon, including Mega Zeraora ex (#027)
  • 029–041 Psychic: Slowpoke to Annihilape, including Mega Slowbro ex (#031) and Mega Chandelure ex (#038)
  • 042–047 Fighting: Mankey to Koraidon, including Rampardos ex (#045)
  • 048–059 Darkness: Mega Darkrai ex (#048) to Chi-Yu, including Morpeko ex (#055) and Zarude (#056)
  • 060–065 Metal: Skarmory to Mega Excadrill ex (#065)
  • 066–071 Colorless: Pikipek to Bombirdier
  • 072–082 Trainers: two Antique Fossils, two Tools, an Item, a Stadium and five Supporters
  • 083–084 Special Energy: Shadowy Darkness Energy and Voltaic Lightning Energy

Psychic is the biggest block with 13 cards, followed by Darkness with 12, which suits a set built around Mega Darkrai ex and ghostly Pokémon such as Banette, Spiritomb and Chandelure. In total the main Pitch Black set list holds 71 Pokémon, 11 Trainers and two Special Energy.

Pitch Black checklist by rarity

Here is how the 120 Pitch Black cards split across the eight rarity symbols:

  • Common (C): 37 cards
  • Uncommon (U): 26 cards
  • Rare (R): 11 cards, including both Special Energy
  • Double Rare (RR): 10 cards, the six Mega Pokémon ex and four Pokémon ex
  • Illustration Rare (IR): 11 cards
  • Ultra Rare (UR): 18 cards
  • Special Illustration Rare (SIR): 6 cards
  • Mega Hyper Rare (MHR): 1 card

The first four rows add up to the 84-card main set, and the last four make up the 36 secret rares. Those numbers match The Pokémon Company’s own announcement of 11 illustration rares, 18 ultra rares and six special illustration rares. Every card at Rare and below also has a reverse holofoil version, so a master-set Pitch Black checklist adds 74 reverse holos on top of the 120 numbered Pitch Black cards.

Pitch Black cards to chase: the secret rares

Most of the attention on the Pitch Black checklist goes to the cards numbered above 084. The top of the Pitch Black set list looks like this:

  • #120 Mega Darkrai ex (MHR): the only Mega Hyper Rare and the final card in the set
  • #116 Mega Darkrai ex (SIR): illustrated by AKIRA EGAWA
  • #114 Mega Zeraora ex (SIR): illustrated by GIDORA
  • #115 Mega Chandelure ex (SIR): the Psychic-type Mega’s top version
  • #117 Morpeko ex (SIR): illustrated by NG Empire
  • #118 Gladion’s Final Battle (SIR): illustrated by DOM
  • #119 Gwynn (SIR): illustrated by Naoki Saito

Mega Darkrai ex is the only card with four versions in the Pitch Black card list (#048, #101, #116 and #120), so it makes a natural centrepiece for a binder page. Mega Zeraora ex, Mega Chandelure ex, Morpeko ex, Gladion’s Final Battle and Gwynn each have three versions.

Illustration rares (#085–#095)

The 11 illustration rares give regular Pokémon full-art scenes: Fomantis (Jiro Sasumo), Armarouge (Iwamoto05), Goldeen (Gemi), Primarina (satoma), Manectric (HICO KIM), Slowbro (Mékayu), Dhelmise (Nakamura Ippan), Thievul (Jerky), Bastiodon (Yoriyuki Ikegami), Toucannon (miki kudo) and Silvally (DOM). They are some of the most varied Pitch Black cards for art lovers, and every one is a different Pokémon.

Ultra rares (#096–#113)

The 18 ultra rares are full-art versions of eight Pokémon ex (Lurantis ex, Wailord ex, Mega Zeraora ex, Mega Chandelure ex, Rampardos ex, Mega Darkrai ex, Morpeko ex and Mega Excadrill ex) and 10 Trainers. Mega Delphox ex and Mega Slowbro ex are the only Pokémon ex without an ultra rare, so their double rares are the only versions of those two Megas on the Pitch Black set list.

Notable Trainers in the Pitch Black set list

The Trainer section of the Pitch Black card list is small but busy. Five Supporters, Gladion’s Final Battle, Gwynn, Jett, Misty’s Vitality and Rust Syndicate Grunt, sit alongside the Backtrack Badge and Tremendous Bomb Tools, the Dark Bell Item and the Fossil Quarry Stadium.

Two quirks are worth noting on your Pitch Black checklist. First, four Trainers appear only as full-art ultra rares with no main-set version: Brave Bangle (#104), Crushing Hammer (#105), Energy Switch (#107) and Iron Defender (#110). Second, Jett is the only Supporter in the main set without a full-art version, so one copy of #079 completes it.

The fossil cards form a small family of their own: the Antique Armor Fossil (#072) pairs with Shieldon (#061) and Bastiodon (#062), while the Antique Skull Fossil (#073) pairs with Cranidos (#044) and Rampardos ex (#045). Filing these Pitch Black cards together on one page keeps the theme easy to see.

Checklist tips for completing the set

  1. Track reverse holos separately. Give your Pitch Black checklist a second tick box for the 74 commons, uncommons and rares, because each also comes in reverse holofoil.
  2. Note the Build & Battle variants. Bulbapedia’s Pitch Black page lists non-holo versions of Miraidon (#028), Spiritomb (#035), Bastiodon (#062), Silvally (#070) and Voltaic Lightning Energy (#084) as exclusive to the Pitch Black Build & Battle Box.
  3. Keep the Zarude promo apart. The full-art Zarude in the Elite Trainer Box is promo MEP 088, so it is not part of the 120 Pitch Black cards. The set’s own Zarude is a Rare at #056.
  4. Plan your binder space. A nine-pocket page holds nine cards, so the 84-card main set fills 10 pages and the full Pitch Black card list fits in 14.
  5. Sleeve the secret rares first. Any of the Pitch Black cards numbered 085 or higher deserves a sleeve before it goes anywhere near a binder.

Pitch Black Card List FAQs

How many cards are in the Pitch Black card list?

There are 120 cards: an 84-card main set (001–084) and 36 secret rares (085–120). Reverse holofoil versions of the 74 cards at Rare and below sit on top of that.

What are the secret rares in Pitch Black?

The 36 secret rares are 11 illustration rares, 18 ultra rares, six special illustration rares and one Mega Hyper Rare, the Mega Darkrai ex at #120.

Is the Zarude promo part of the Pitch Black checklist?

No. The full-art Zarude from the Elite Trainer Box is promo MEP 088, separate from the 120-card set. The set’s regular Zarude is a Rare at #056.

Which Pitch Black cards have special illustration rares?

Mega Zeraora ex (#114), Mega Chandelure ex (#115), Mega Darkrai ex (#116), Morpeko ex (#117), Gladion’s Final Battle (#118) and Gwynn (#119).

Which Pitch Black cards only appear as ultra rares?

Brave Bangle (#104), Crushing Hammer (#105), Energy Switch (#107) and Iron Defender (#110) have no main-set version, so on the Pitch Black set list they exist only as full-art ultra rares.

When was Pitch Black released?

Pitch Black was released on 17 July 2026. It is adapted from the Japanese set Abyss Eye, which came out in Japan on 22 May 2026.
