30th Celebration Pokémon ETB: 9 Packs & a Wonderful Nidorina
Nine all-foil packs, nine Pikachu Rares and a promo hiding 30 Nidorina: what's in the 30th Celebration Elite Trainer Box and how it compares.

In this guide 8 sections
The 30th Celebration Pokémon ETB is the Elite Trainer Box for the Pokémon TCG’s 30th anniversary expansion, released on 16 September 2026. It pairs nine booster packs from an all-foil set with a full-art Nidorina promo that hides 30 Nidorina in its artwork. This guide covers what’s inside, what makes the set unusual, and how the box stacks up against the Pokémon Center edition, the Booster Bundle and the Ultra-Premium Collections.

30th Celebration launched on the same date around the world in participating markets, with the Japanese edition also arriving on 16 September 2026. That global launch, the all-foil card list and the Pikachu in every pack all shape what you get from a 30th Celebration Elite Trainer Box, so it is worth understanding the set before comparing products.
Why the 30th Celebration set feels different
The Pokémon Company describes the expansion as containing all foil cards, and Bulbapedia notes that this extends even to the Basic Energy. A few other features set it apart from a regular expansion:
- A Pikachu in every pack: each booster pack contains one of 30 Pikachu Rare cards, numbered 023 to 052 and each drawn by a different artist, from Ken Sugimori at #023 to Kazuki Minami at #052.
- Futuristic Rares: a brand-new rarity illustrated by YOSHIROTTEN, used for Mewtwo ex (#157) and Mew ex (#158).
- Classic cards return: 30 classic Pokémon cards from the game’s history make a comeback as part of the expansion.
- Anniversary line-up: Mewtwo ex and Mew ex headline, joined by Pokémon ex such as Umbreon ex, Espeon ex, Sylveon ex, Greninja ex, Gengar ex and Salamence ex.
The main set is numbered to 128. Beyond that sit 18 illustration rares (#129–#146), 10 special illustration rares (#147–#156) and the two Futuristic Rares. Because every pack carries a Pikachu Rare, a 30th Celebration Pokémon ETB always gives you nine of them, although they will not necessarily be nine different ones.
What’s inside the 30th Celebration Elite Trainer Box
The official contents list for the standard box is:
- 9 Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration booster packs
- 1 full-art foil promo card featuring Nidorina
- 16 foil Basic Energy cards
- 65 card sleeves
- A player’s guide to the 30th Celebration expansion
- 6 damage-counter dice
- 1 competition-legal coin-flip die
- 1 plastic coin
- A collector’s box with 6 dividers
- A code card for Pokémon Trading Card Game Live
One difference stands out if you have opened other recent boxes. Mega Evolution series ETBs such as Pitch Black include 40 Energy cards; the 30th Celebration Pokémon ETB has 16 instead, but every one of them is foil. Everything else, from the sleeves to the six dividers, follows the familiar recent pattern.
The Nidorina promo: 30 Pokémon for 30 years
Nidorina is number 30 in the National Pokédex, which is why it was picked for the anniversary. The promo is numbered MEP 101 and uses a full-art illustration rare print by Taiga Kasai, whose artwork features a total of 30 Nidorina. The set’s own Nidorina at #088 is a different card, illustrated by Miki Tanaka. Bulbapedia’s Nidorina MEP 101 page has the full details of both prints.
Standard vs Pokémon Center: which 30th Celebration Pokémon ETB?
As with other recent sets, the Elite Trainer Box comes in two editions:
- 30th Celebration Elite Trainer Box: 9 booster packs and one Nidorina promo
- 30th Celebration Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box: 11 booster packs and two Nidorina promos, one with the Pokémon Center logo
The accessories are the same in both. The Pokémon Center edition gives you two extra packs, so two extra Pikachu Rares, plus the logo version of the promo. The standard 30th Celebration Elite Trainer Box is the simpler choice if you mainly want to open packs and play.
How the ETB compares with the rest of the range
The anniversary line-up is wide, and each product suits a different buyer. These are the main alternatives to a 30th Celebration Pokémon ETB:
Booster Bundle
The 30th Celebration Booster Bundle arrived on 2 October 2026 and contains six booster packs with no promo or accessories. It is the most direct way to get packs, and therefore Pikachu Rares, without paying for a play kit you might already own.
Ultra-Premium Collections (Day and Night)
The two Ultra-Premium Collections are scheduled for 6 November 2026. The Day version stars Espeon ex and the Night version stars Umbreon ex, and each includes a day- or night-themed Pikachu ex promo illustrated by YOSHIROTTEN. Inside are 29 booster packs plus one Classic Collection booster pack containing three Classic Collection cards, along with a playmat, 65 sleeves, a deck box, a metal coin, six damage-counter dice and a Pokémon TCG Live code card.
Smaller boxes
The 30th Celebration Poster Collection has three packs, foil Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres promos and a two-sided poster. The Pokémon ex Boxes add four packs, a promo and an oversize card, starring either the Sylveon ex Box or the Greninja ex Box.
Quick comparison at a glance
- Booster Bundle: 6 packs, no promo, no accessories
- 30th Celebration Elite Trainer Box: 9 packs, 1 Nidorina promo, full play kit with 16 foil Energy
- Pokémon Center ETB: 11 packs, 2 Nidorina promos, the same play kit
- Ultra-Premium Collection: 29 packs plus a Classic Collection pack, 2 promos, playmat, deck box and metal coin
Which 30th Celebration box should you choose?
- You are new to the game: the 30th Celebration Pokémon ETB gives you sleeves, dice, a coin and Energy alongside your packs. Our beginner’s guide to Pokémon cards explains the basics.
- You just want packs: the Booster Bundle keeps it simple with six packs and nothing else.
- You collect promos: the Pokémon Center edition adds the logo Nidorina and two extra packs.
- You want the Classic Collection: each Ultra-Premium Collection includes a Classic Collection booster pack with three Classic Collection cards.
- You are chasing all 30 Pikachu: count the packs, since each one holds exactly one Pikachu Rare.
For most people, the standard 30th Celebration Elite Trainer Box sits in the sweet spot: enough packs to feel the set, an anniversary promo with a story behind it and accessories you will actually use. The official product line-up is summarised in The Pokémon Company International’s 30th Celebration announcement.
