151 Booster Bundle: 6 Packs and a Fun, Easy Way into Kanto
Six packs and nothing else: what the 151 Booster Bundle contains, who it suits and how it compares with the rest of the Scarlet & Violet—151 line-up.

In this guide 7 sections
The 151 Booster Bundle is the simplest product in the Scarlet & Violet—151 range: six booster packs in one box, with no promo or accessories added. It arrived on 22 September 2023, the day the set launched, and it’s a handy way to open a few packs of the original Kanto Pokémon without committing to a bigger collection box.

What’s in the 151 Booster Bundle
The official contents list is short and sweet: six Scarlet & Violet—151 booster packs. That’s it. Here’s what those packs mean in practice:
- 6 booster packs from the 207-card 151 set
- 10 cards plus a Basic Energy in each English pack, so 60 cards and six Energy in total
- Reverse Holofoil versions of Rares and below can appear in every pack
- Cosmos Holo Basic Energy can turn up in packs too
There’s no promo card, no sleeves and no dice in a 151 Booster Bundle. If you want those, the Elite Trainer Box is the step up. If you only want packs, the bundle keeps things lean, and the box is small enough to stack neatly on a shelf until opening day.
Where the bundle fits in the 151 launch
The English 151 products arrived in two waves. On 22 September 2023, the 151 Booster Bundle launched alongside the Elite Trainer Box, the Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box, the Poster Collection and the Binder Collection. A second wave followed on 6 October 2023 with the Ultra-Premium Collection, the Alakazam ex and Zapdos ex Collections and the Mini Tins. The set itself started in Japan as Pokémon Card 151 (SV2a) on 16 June 2023, where packs hold seven cards rather than ten.
That timing matters if you’re collecting sealed product: the 151 Booster Bundle was one of the first ways to open English 151 packs. It also means the bundle’s packs are the same English packs you’ll find in the ETB and UPC, so the card list and rarities don’t change from one product to the next. The difference is only in how many packs you get and what comes with them.
What six packs of Kanto can hold
Every pack in the 151 Booster Bundle is a standard 151 booster pack, so any card in the set can appear. The set has 165 main cards, covering the original 151 Pokémon in Pokédex order plus 14 Trainers, and 42 secret cards above that. The rarities to watch for are:
- Double rare Pokémon ex: 12 in the main set, including Charizard ex, Alakazam ex and Mew ex
- Illustration rares: 16, from the starter lines to Pikachu 173/165 and Dragonair 181/165
- Ultra rares: 16 full-art cards, covering every Pokémon ex and four Supporters
- Special illustration rares: 7, led by Charizard ex 199/165, Venusaur ex 198/165 and Blastoise ex 200/165
- Gold hyper rares: 3, namely Mew ex 205/165, Switch 206/165 and Basic Psychic Energy 207/165
Six packs won’t complete a set, but they’re a fun way to start a Pokédex binder or chase a favourite. For the full breakdown of the set, including artists and Trainer cards, read our Pokémon 151 set guide.
How the bundle compares with other 151 boxes
The 151 range is unusually broad because the set never had an English booster box. Here’s where the 151 Booster Bundle sits among the official products:
- Mini Tins: two packs, a coin in one of 10 Energy-type styles and an art card matching the tin. Our Pokémon 151 Mini Tin Display groups several together.
- Poster Collection: three packs, three Kanto first partner promos and a two-sided poster.
- Binder Collection: four packs and a nine-pocket binder that holds up to 360 cards.
- Pokémon 151 Booster Bundle: six packs and nothing else.
- Pokémon 151 Elite Trainer Box: nine packs, a full-art Snorlax promo (SVP 051), 65 sleeves, 45 Energy cards, dice, condition markers and a storage box with dividers.
- Pokémon 151 Ultra-Premium Collection: 16 packs, an etched metal Mew ex card, Mew ex and Mewtwo promos, a playmat, a deck box and a Mew coin.
In short, the 151 Booster Bundle gives you more packs than a tin, poster box or binder box, while the ETB and UPC add promos and accessories on top of their packs. If you were hoping for a full box of packs, our guide to the Pokémon 151 booster box question explains the Japanese box and the 36-pack options.
Who the 151 Booster Bundle suits
Because it’s packs only, the bundle fits some collectors better than others:
- Pack openers who already own sleeves, dice and Energy and just want more 151 cards
- Binder builders topping up a Pokédex-order collection a few packs at a time
- Friends sharing an opening, since six packs split evenly between two or three people
- Gift givers who want a compact present for a Kanto fan
It suits a brand-new player less well. Someone starting from scratch gets more from the ETB’s sleeves, Energy cards and player’s guide, so treat the 151 Booster Bundle as a top-up rather than a starter kit.
Fun ways to open six packs
A small bundle is perfect for a themed opening. Try a Pokédex race, where each person opens two packs and the highest total of Pokédex numbers wins. Or run a starter hunt: score a point for every Bulbasaur, Charmander or Squirtle line card you find. You can also open one pack a day for six days and keep a running checklist.
Getting the most from your 151 Booster Bundle
- Sort by Pokédex number. The card numbers match the original Pokédex, so 001 Bulbasaur through 151 Mew ex drop straight into binder order.
- Plan your binder pages. A nine-pocket page holds nine cards, so the 151 Pokémon fill 17 pages, with the Trainers and secret cards after them.
- Check the Energy. Look twice at each Basic Energy in case it’s a Cosmos Holo version.
- Sleeve the hits. Put illustration rares, special illustration rares and gold cards into sleeves right away.
- Track the secret cards. Numbers 166 to 207 are the secret rares, so note them separately from the main 165.
The full product line-up is listed in the official launch announcement from The Pokémon Company International, and the Bulbapedia set page lists every card.

151 Booster Bundle FAQs
How many packs are in the 151 Booster Bundle?
Six. Each English Scarlet & Violet—151 pack contains 10 cards plus a Basic Energy, so the bundle holds 60 cards and six Energy.
When was the 151 Booster Bundle released?
It was available from 22 September 2023, when the Scarlet & Violet—151 expansion launched, as part of the first wave of products.
Does the 151 Booster Bundle include a promo card?
No. The official contents are six booster packs only. For a promo, look at the Elite Trainer Box, which includes a full-art Snorlax (SVP 051).
Should I choose the 151 Booster Bundle or the ETB?
Choose the bundle if you only want packs. The ETB adds three more packs, the Snorlax promo, sleeves, Energy cards and other accessories, which makes it better for new players.
Can Charizard ex come from a 151 Booster Bundle?
Yes. The packs are standard 151 booster packs, so any card in the set can appear, including Charizard ex 199/165, though no specific card is guaranteed.
