The box keeps to a simple, pack-focused format:

  • 30 booster packs
  • 5 cards in each pack
  • 150 cards in total, randomly assorted

Where VSTAR Began

Star Birth is the Japanese set that brought the VSTAR mechanic into the Pokémon Trading Card Game. VSTAR Pokémon evolve from Pokémon V and carry a VSTAR Power, and each player can use only one VSTAR Power per game. Opening a Star Birth booster box takes you back to the very first set where those cards appeared.

Japanese Format

Cards in this box are Japanese, so it’s aimed at collectors and fans of Japanese printings. Five-card packs give you 30 separate openings, which makes it a good choice for a long session or for sharing packs among friends. The slim packs also keep the box itself compact on a shelf.

Ideas for Your Box

Some collectors keep a Star Birth S9 display sealed beside later Japanese sets as a record of the VSTAR era, while others prefer to open it and build a binder of the set. Whichever you choose, the contents are random, so we can’t say which cards any particular box holds.

Either way, it’s a neat piece of Pokémon TCG history to own. Star Birth arrived in January 2022, months before Lost Abyss (July) and Paradigm Trigger (October), so it’s the earliest of the three 2022 Japanese boxes in our range.
