Disney Characters in Lorcana: 12 Films With Amazing Glimmers
From Stitch and Elsa to Jafar, Judy Hopps and the Gargoyles: how Disney characters become glimmers, where to find them and which gift sets star them.

In this guide 8 sections
Half the fun of this trading card game is seeing which Disney characters turn up next, and in what form. Over more than a dozen sets, Ravensburger has brought in classic heroes, beloved sidekicks, villains, Pixar favourites and some deep cuts that even long-time fans may not expect. This guide shows how those characters work as cards and where to find your favourites.

How Disney characters become glimmers
In the game’s story, players are Illumineers who use magical ink to summon new versions of Disney characters, items and locations. Those summoned versions are called glimmers. Because each glimmer is a fresh take, the same hero can appear many times with a different subtitle, art and abilities each time.
That is why card names come in two parts: the character, then a version title. Stitch, for example, has appeared as Stitch – Covert Agent and Stitch – Alien Buccaneer, while Elsa has been The Fifth Spirit and Ice Maker. Collectors often chase every version of their favourite Disney characters, and players pick the version whose abilities suit their deck.
Floodborn, Whispers and Vinelings
Some storylines change familiar Disney characters in dramatic ways. In Rise of the Floodborn, characters swept up in a flood were transformed in surprising ways, and Floodborn characters with Shift can be played on top of a character with the same name already in play. Whispers in the Well added Whispers, spectral glimmers summoned from torn Lorebook pages that grow stronger with the Boost mechanic. Attack of the Vine! introduced Vinelings, glimmers such as Ursula, Gaston and Pete that a mysterious Vine has turned into its leafy defenders.
Famous Disney characters, film by film
Here are twelve films and franchises whose Disney characters have made a strong mark on the game, with examples of glimmers named on the official product pages.
- Lilo & Stitch: Stitch – Covert Agent, Stitch – Alien Buccaneer and Lilo – Escape Artist, plus experiments Angel, Reuben and Slushy, with Pleakley and Jumba, in Winterspell.
- Frozen: Elsa – The Fifth Spirit arrived in Shimmering Skies, Elsa – Ice Maker in Archazia’s Island, and in Winterspell an Elsa glimmer accidentally unleashes a winter storm across the realm.
- The Little Mermaid: Ursula’s Return centres on a powerful Ursula glimmer, and Ariel – Ethereal Voice appears in Whispers in the Well.
- Aladdin: Jafar takes over in Reign of Jafar as Jafar – High Sultan of Lorcana, after Jafar – Newly Crowned in Archazia’s Island; Jasmine – Soothing Princess joins Whispers in the Well.
- Mulan: Mulan – Imperial Soldier starred in The First Chapter gift set, and Mulan – Charging Ahead and Mushu – Fast Talking Dragon headline Reign of Jafar.
- Hercules: Hades – King of Olympus shared the first gift set with Mulan, while Megara – Secret Keeper and Zeus – Missing His Spark appear in Whispers in the Well.
- Wreck-It Ralph: Vanellope von Schweetz – Sugar Rush Champ and the Sugar Rush racers join Shimmering Skies.
- Big Hero 6: Hiro Hamada, Baymax, Go Go Tomago, Honey Lemon, Fred and Wasabi debut in Azurite Sea.
- Zootopia: Judy Hopps – Lead Detective leads the mystery in Whispers in the Well, and Judy, Nick Wilde and Chief Bogo return in Hyperia City.
- Gargoyles: Demona – Scourge of the Wyvern Clan, Goliath – Clan Leader and Elisa Maza – Intrepid Investigator mark the franchise’s debut in Whispers in the Well.
- Toy Story: Woody – Jungle Ranger and Buzz Lightyear – Jungle Ranger arrive in Wilds Unknown, the set that brought Pixar glimmers into the game.
- Classic shorts: Minnie Mouse – Daring Defender (Reign of Jafar), Minnie Mouse – Ghost Hunter and Daisy – Paranormal Investigator (Whispers in the Well), and Donald Duck – Pie Slinger (Shimmering Skies).
The list keeps growing. Archazia’s Island leaned into animal stars from The Aristocats, Bolt and Lady and the Tramp, Fabled gathered classic friends and princesses, and Attack of the Vine! added Disney characters from Monsters, Inc., Turning Red and Up.
How Disney characters play
Every character card shows three key numbers. Strength is the damage it deals in a challenge, Willpower is how much damage it takes to banish it, and Lore is how much lore you gain when it quests. Each also belongs to one of six inks, which decides which decks it fits into.
On your turn you exert characters to quest for lore or to challenge exerted opposing characters, racing to 20 lore. Characters can also sing songs: a character with a high enough cost can exert to play a song for free. New characters have to wait a turn for their ink to dry before they act. Our beginner’s guide to the game walks through the full turn, the inkwell and deck building.
Enchanted, Epic and Iconic Disney characters
The rarest versions of Disney characters get special treatment. Enchanted cards feature full-art alternative artwork with Inkwash foiling, and The First Chapter included 12 of them. Attack of the Vine! has Enchanted pairings such as Rapunzel & Flynn Rider, Woody & Buzz Lightyear, Belle & Beast, and Lilo & Stitch, alongside new Shift pairings for Lilo & Stitch, Carl & Russell, and Woody & Buzz Lightyear.
Fabled added two new tiers. Epic cards are rarer than Legendary but more common than Enchanted, with frameless artwork and rainbow foil. Iconic cards are the rarest of all, designed to capture the nostalgia fans feel for each character. For collectors, these premium versions of Disney characters are the showpieces of any binder.
Gift sets starring Disney characters
Gift sets are a simple way to celebrate one of your favourite Disney characters. The Azurite Sea Stitch Collector’s Gift Set pictured above pairs a foil Stitch – Alien Buccaneer promo card with four Azurite Sea booster packs and a portfolio showing Stitch in his glimmer forms. It suits a Stitch fan who wants a ready-made binder and a first handful of packs.
The Archazia’s Island Lilo Gift Box is built around a Lilo – Escape Artist promo card and comes with booster packs and a storage box, so it makes a natural partner for the Stitch set. Earlier gift sets followed the same idea: The First Chapter’s gift set featured Mulan – Imperial Soldier and Hades – King of Olympus as oversized and playable foils, and Into the Inklands paired Stitch – Covert Agent with Tinker Bell – Very Clever Fairy.
Choosing a set for your favourite Disney characters
If you love Disney villains, the Ursula’s Return Booster Box builds its whole story around the sea witch, and the Ursula glimmer threatens to seize power over the realm. Mystery fans should look out for Whispers in the Well, the set with Judy Hopps, the Headless Horseman, Ichabod Crane and the Gargoyles clan. For the full set list and the rules, see our beginner’s guide, and browse the Lorcana category for boxes from every chapter.
A good rule of thumb is to start with the set that features the films you rewatch most. You will enjoy opening packs more, and building a deck around Disney characters you already love is the quickest way to learn their abilities. The official Whispers in the Well product page lists more of that set’s featured glimmers.
